Ridiyagama safari park is the first ever man made safari park in Sri Lanka which opened its doors to the public in 2016. It was built for tourism with the assistance of the National Zoological department of Sri Lanka. Spanning across 500 acres, the park consists of 22 species of animals which mainly includes mammals and birds.
Located in Ridiyagama, Hambantota, Ridiyagama safari park is the first ever man made safari park in Sri Lanka. The park is 500 acres in size and was opened to the public in 2016.
The park consists of six zones of which carnivorous animals reside in four zones and herbivorous animals reside in two zones.
The park consists of 22 species of animals which mainly includes mammals and birds. The park has animals such as African Lion, Elephants, Tigers, and Leopards etc. Animals such as Lions, Tigers and Leopards cover two zones of the carnivore section.
The park was constructed under the guidance of the National Zoological Department of Sri Lanka with the expectation of tourism.
The safari park is a great experience for children and non-wildlife buffs.
